Train your way out of pain
Pain … is it really all bad? I can imagine it seems bad if you are experienccing pain right now and when I say pain, I am referring to joint pain speccifically.
First up, what is pain? Pain signals are the way your body alerts you to a problem. Something is wrong, and what is usually wrong when we experience joint pain is a an imbalance in muscle length and tension. In this instance what I would get a client of mine to do is stretch the muscles in the quads and strengthen the muscles in the hamstrings
For this you don’t need very fancy equipment just a swiss ball will do as demonstrated here in the first video.
You can also use the swiss ball in strengthening the hamstrings by laying with your back on the floor and your feet on the ball, you then lift your hips up off the floor while bending your knees roll the ball towards you then slowly return the ball till your legs are straight then lower your hips to the floor, repeat 8 to 10 times for 4 sets.
See the second video for a demonstration how to carry out this exercise.
For many other joint pain issues like shoulders the cause may be similar, for example a tight Pec Minor and a weak trapezius and rhomboid imbalance can be the cause of shoulder pain.
